The Coltrane Supreme is without question a remarkable accomplishment in loudspeaker engineering. However, the Polymer Logic is nevertheless a better implementation of diamond technology that offers even more realism, palpability, and organic flowing ease that slightly eludes the Coltrane Supreme. The Coltrane Supreme, like the Polymer Logic, uses the best midrange transducer in the world. One major difference between the two designs is that in the Coltrane Supreme the diamond cone only operates down to 1300Hz where the human ear is extremely sensitive to the slightest anomalies. Even the most brilliant engineers cannot successfully place a cross-over at 1300Hz and make it invisible to the ear. Therefore, in the Coltrane Supreme the diamond cone operates from 1300Hz and higher, and below sound is reproduced by ceramic drivers.

In contrast, that same diamond cone in the Polymer Logic operates from 500Hz (this is done safely using advanced cross-over technology) where the seamless cross-over network is invisible and operates over the entire critical midrange band giving the Polymer Logic the most spectacular and awe inspiring midrange performance in the world. The Polymer Logic utilizes a pure diamond cone over a wider frequency range then any other loudspeaker on the planet!

Below 500Hz music is reproduced by two state-of-the-art vapor deposited titanium cone drivers that have roughly the same stiffness as the ceramic cones of the Coltrane Supreme, but much lower mass (hence superior stiffness/mass ratio), giving additional fidelity and precision in the bass.

The Coltrane Supreme appears to be optimized for extreme output capability at very low distortion. Ultimately, this means that under extreme listening conditions the Coltrane Supreme can play louder without strain. Also, the laws of physics make it impossible for the Polymer Logic with its twin 7” woofers to compete in sheer bass output capability of the Coltrane Supreme’s more then a dozen ceramic drivers. However, under normal listening conditions, at levels where the vast majority of music lovers are likely to listen, and in an average sized listening room, the Polymer Logic offers even more resolution, precision, palpability, presence, and free flowing ease then the Coltrane Supreme.
