In a side by side comparison, despite the well deserved reputation of the Mini as one of the world’s best two-way loudspeakers, it sounds closed-in, stifled, and muffled when switching over to the Polymer Logic. The Polymer Logic’s pure diamond cone midrange covers the most critical midrange frequencies over the widest possible range and behaves like a theoretically ideal piston at those frequencies. Music comes through with such fidelity, organic flow, and continuity that it is nothing short of astonishing.
The Magico Mini also has remarkable low frequency performance for a two-way due to the titanium drivers near perfect piston behavior at low frequencies. But since the Polymer Logic utilizes two of these drivers per speaker, it outperforms the Mini’s bass by leaps and bounds as the cone area doubles allowing the Polymer Logic to move twice as much air with these ultra light and stiff hand made drivers. The bass is incredibly nimble with shocking transients and enormous linear output capability. The design of the Polymer Logic also allows these drivers to operate at frequencies where they perform at their absolute best – the low midrange and bass – before handing off to a diamond midrange. At the moment, this driver features the stiffest and lightest cone available in a 7” woofer making it the best transducer in the world for mid-bass applications. |
