It is absolutely paramount to trust your own ears when purchasing a high-end audio component and not to rely on industry hype. The content here is merely intended to show that theoretically and as served by objective measurements, the Polymer Logic is the best loudspeaker in the world. But ultimately it is the subjective listening experience that translates this technology into something magical and defines the degree of emotional involvement.
No doubt the Polymer Logic represents a threat to many other high-end brands. Anyone who has been perusing audio magazines recently would have seen Wilson Audio’s advertising campaign cleverly titled “Cost vs. Value” where Wilson Audio claims to “share with you a little inside knowledge about pricing” and goes on to say that “it may interest you to know that Wilson Audio has one of the lowest profit margins in the industry”. While we cannot directly make an industry wide claim about our profit margins in relation to all loudspeaker manufacturers since there is no way to look at their financial statements (quite frankly we are scratching our heads as to how Wilson Audio was able to get their heads on this financial data), we can tell you with absolute certainty that Polymer Audio Technologies operates on lower profit margins than Wilson Audio. When just one of the 7” vapor deposited titanium woofers in the Polymer Logic is roughly the same price as the entire driver complement of the Watt Puppy 8 and the price of our diamond cone midrange is more expensive than the entire parts cost of the $125,000/pr Alexandria X-2, you don’t need to go to business school to see that our margins really are quite a bit lower.
What about the magazines? In general the reviews will confirm that the Polymer Logic is a remarkable loudspeaker, but the mainstream audio press will have a difficult time admitting that the Polymer Logic obliterates every other loudspeaker regardless of price. Such a review could potentially derail many of our competitors and despite the “church and state” separation between editorial and advertising departments, it is important to note that these manufacturers represent important sources of advertising revenue.
In conclusion, we only hope that if you are shopping for the ultimate loudspeaker for your music or home theater system that you add the Polymer Logic to your list of loudspeakers that must be auditioned prior to making a purchasing decision. You will be glad you did. |
